April Learn to Sew: Sewing Machine 101
In this beginning sewing class, Alden Sobol will teach you all the basics of how to use a sewing machine: threading the machine, learning what all the knobs, buttons, and dials do, basic troubleshooting, winding a bobbin, and making your first stitches. If time allows, you will get started on your first project - making a pin cushion.
No sewing experience necessary! Sewing machines and all materials provided. (Or bring your own sewing machine if you want to learn how to use it!) This class is perfect for you if you’ve ever wanted to learn to sew using a sewing machine, but felt intimidated, or not known where to start.

Why are there multiple prices? All of our classes are offered at a sliding scale, with a free option available to anyone that requests it. When possible, we make the base option available in order to partly cover the cost of the class. The core price is the "true" cost of the class OffCenter needs to cover paying our teachers and providing supplies and materials. If you are able to support at a higher level, paying the supporter price helps ensure we're able to continue offering a variety of classes and keep free spaces open for anyone that needs.
There are a limited number of free spots available online. If these are sold out, please email, call, or drop by the studio to sign up! Email info@offcenterarts.org.
