Junk Mail Journals: Pamphlet Stitch Binding
Turn recycled tissue box or other cardboard and junk mail into a fun and functional art journal. Using junk mail of all kinds, including catalogs, we will create a journal utilizing a simple pamphlet stitch to sew the binding. We will use paint and collage to embellish the pages and create a palette for you to add your own art or collage.
If you have a tissue box to recycle, or a nice catalog, please bring it. Please wear clothes appropriate for painting.
All supplies will be provided and you are welcome to bring your own junk mail.
Tuesday, May 13, 5-8 p.m. at OffCenter Community Arts Project, 808 Park Ave SW, ABQ.
Tiered pricing: Free $0 / Base $15 / Core $30 / Supporter $60

Teacher bio: Vicki Daigneau has been doing art in one form or another for over 30 years. She started out doing small quilting projects and sold quite a few at art fairs. About 25 years ago, she took watercolor painting lessons from Albuquerque artist, Gale Waddell, a founding member of NM Watercolor Society. Later, she took Acrylic Painting lessons with local artist, Pat Forbes. She has tried many different mediums since then. She paints in mixed media, watercolor, and acrylic. She makes Junk Mail Journals, as well as some art journaling. Vicki will try just about anything that looks like it might be creative fun.
All materials provided. No experience necessary.
Unless otherwise specified ages 16+ are welcome to attend OffCenter classes independently. Students age 12 to 15 must be accompanied by an adult (18+) who stays with them for the duration of the class. We highly recommend that the accompanying adult register and participate in the class as well. Individual classes may have additional age or experience requirements. This class is for ages 16 and up.
Refund Policy: All of our classes have limited capacity and often sell out. Please let us know if you are unable to attend a class you’ve registered for so we can open up the spot for someone else. If you would like a refund for your class registration fee, you must let us know at least 48 hours ahead of the class start time. Cancellations received within 48 hours or less of class start times are not eligible for refunds, but your class fee can be transferred to a future class registration instead. If you have questions about your class registration, or to request a refund or class transfer, please call, email, or talk to staff in person at OffCenter during Open Studio hours.
Why are there multiple prices? All of our classes are offered at a sliding scale, with a free option available to anyone that requests it. When possible, we make the base option available in order to partly cover the cost of the class. The core price is the "true" cost of the class OffCenter needs to cover paying our teachers and providing supplies and materials. If you are able to support at a higher level, paying the supporter price helps ensure we're able to continue offering a variety of classes and keep free spaces open for anyone that needs.
There are a limited number of free spots available online. If these are sold out, please email, call, or drop by the studio to sign up! Email info@offcenterarts.org.
