Teacher bio:  Born in Las Cruces, NM with a passion for art, Anndrya "Dre" Rivera is a talented and visionary local artist with a unique style and creative expression. From an early age, it was clear that art was more than just a hobby for them - it was a way of life. Influenced by her grandfather who was a painter and muralist in Mexico, Dre developed a passion for painting and an appreciation for other renowned artists such as Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera. Dre later developed an appreciation for pop culture, graphic art, and horror which became a major influence on their art. Inspired by pop art artist Andy Warhol, and illustrator Guillermo Del Toro, Dre became a graphic illustrator.

Growing up in a household that valued self-expression and emotional well-being, they developed a unique artistic style that seamlessly combines various mediums and techniques. After completing their formal education in fine arts and psychology, Dre moved to Albuquerque to pursue specialized training in art therapy, recognizing the transformative power art holds in healing and self-discovery. Their artistic journey has been deeply influenced by their personal experiences and struggles, shaping their empathetic approach towards helping others through art.

Dre began volunteering as an intern at OffCenter Community Arts Project in 2021 while completing her master's in art therapy, and later worked as the printmaking shop manager. Now working in their chosen field of art therapy, Dre continues to grow their unique style of art making involving both printmaking methods and painting.
