Ekphrastic Poetry (Writing Inspired by Art) Workshop
Ekphrastic writing is inspired by the writer’s response to an artwork. It is more than just a description. It interprets the artwork by using the imagination. In the process, it amplifies and extends the source artwork’s meaning. As a result, it creates a dialogue between words and images that offers a new way of engaging with art.
Bring hardcopy or digital images of your favorite artworks (your own or someone else’s—
to use for creative inspiration).
Thursday, May 1, 6th -8pm at OffCenter Community Arts Project, 808 Park Ave SW, ABQ.
Tiered pricing: Free $0 / Base $10 / Core $20 / Supporter $40

All materials provided. No experience necessary.
Unless otherwise specified ages 16+ are welcome to attend OffCenter classes independently. Students age 12 to 15 must be accompanied by an adult (18+) who stays with them for the duration of the class. We highly recommend that the accompanying adult register and participate in the class as well. Individual classes may have additional age or experience requirements. This class is for ages 16 and up.
Refund Policy: All of our classes have limited capacity and often sell out. Please let us know if you are unable to attend a class you’ve registered for so we can open up the spot for someone else. If you would like a refund for your class registration fee, you must let us know at least 48 hours ahead of the class start time. Cancellations received within 48 hours or less of class start times are not eligible for refunds, but your class fee can be transferred to a future class registration instead. If you have questions about your class registration, or to request a refund or class transfer, please call, email, or talk to staff in person at OffCenter during Open Studio hours.
Why are there multiple prices? All of our classes are offered at a sliding scale, with a free option available to anyone that requests it. When possible, we make the base option available in order to partly cover the cost of the class. The core price is the "true" cost of the class OffCenter needs to cover paying our teachers and providing supplies and materials. If you are able to support at a higher level, paying the supporter price helps ensure we're able to continue offering a variety of classes and keep free spaces open for anyone that needs.
There are a limited number of free spots available online. If these are sold out, please email, call, or drop by the studio to sign up! Email info@offcenterarts.org.
