Teacher bio: Alden Sobol is a self-taught sewist who fell in love with sewing in 2018 and hasn’t stopped since. Custom made clothing is their favorite thing to sew, every body deserves to wear clothing that fits well and feels great, though they aren’t very picky and will gladly attempt to sew just about anything. Alden began sewing book bindings 15 years ago when he made himself a day planner because he decided time was too linear and needed more curves. He’s excited to add bookbinding to his teaching repertoire with this series. Alden also facilitates OffCenter’s weekly Open Sew night on Wednesdays from 6 to 8 p.m
Materials provided.
Age & Experience requirements: No previous sewing or bookbinding experience needed. This class is for ages 16 and up.
Why are there multiple prices? All of our classes are offered at a sliding scale, with a free option available to anyone that requests it. When possible, we make the base option available in order to partly cover the cost of the class. The core price is the "true" cost of the class OffCenter needs to cover paying our teachers and providing supplies and materials. If you are able to support at a higher level, paying the supporter price helps ensure we're able to continue offering a variety of classes and keep free spaces open for anyone that needs.
There are a limited number of free spots available online. If these are sold out, please email, call, or drop by the studio to sign up! Email info@offcenterarts.org.
