Write Your Self Portrait - A writing workshop
One of poetry’s super powers is using attention to small details to paint expansive pictures. Layering images and ideas together, poems are a wonderful format for telling big stories in small spaces.
In this writing workshop, we’ll use simple-to-respond-to writing prompts to create snapshots of ourselves. We’ll play with a variety of poetic forms, to create distinct and layered portraits of ourselves, our stories, and our lives. We’ll look to poetry from Diane Seuss, Ada Limon, John Lee Clark, Mary Oliver and others to inspire our own writing. You’ll create a new self-portrait of yourself through poetry – a way to see yourself and your stories in a new light.
This is a generative writing workshop, meant to spur new writing – first drafts and sketches. No experience necessary.
