Drypoint 2 - Intro to Multicolor Intaglio Printing
In three class sessions, you will explore various ways to introduce color into your prints. The first class will be devoted to drypoint etching and the creation of a key plate - the one that contains the detailed image. After printing your key plate in black and white I will show examples of and demonstrate two methods to introduce color into your image. If there is time, you can begin your adventure with color. The following week will be exploratory. In preparation for the 3rd class, I will demonstrate one technique that requires registration and another using collaged elements. Now, with what you have learned, it is time to have fun!
Janet is a self-taught artist who emerged from another career. She is committed to non-toxic printmaking and using upcycled materials. She is fascinated with found marks such as the ones one sees on a well-used kitchen cutting board. Rolling a thin layer of ink over the wooden board reveals the incisions. In a sense, their number and pattern is a fingerprint of the person who made them.
