OFFCenter Community Arts Project was founded in 2001 by founding director Janis Timm-Bottos, an art therapist whose vision was to have an all-inclusive arts studio where the process of making art with a supportive community and a safe environment would provide all the therapeutic and healing aspects of art — especially for those most marginalized in our community.

Over the years, we’ve grown to not only be an open group studio free for everyone to pursue their creative endeavors while building community, but have expanded! We offer free art education to all with workshops in arts, crafts, music and writing, a professional frame shop, professional jewelry/metalsmithing making shop, low-commission sales shop, gallery, performance space, thrift store, and have become host to our annual “We Art the People!” Folk Art Festival and Little House Silent Auction serving ~3,600 Bernalillo County residents each year.
